I’m still trying to get back on the horse here, but it seems my goals have taken a detour to Snack City! I mean, one night I had takeout like a classy adult, and the next, I was downing a milkshake for dinner at the sale barn—because who doesn’t enjoy a side of bovine with their dessert? Yikes! I really should have checked the sugar content before going full Willy Wonka—100 grams, seriously?! Lesson learned! It’s not that I’m against treats; it’s just that my body is pretty much the Sugar Police right now. But oh boy, that milkshake was like a hug from the inside! Not to be outdone, I also treated myself to an egg and bacon sandwich, but alas, the bread turned on me like an ex with a grudge. Bloating ensued, and I think I heard my stomach mutter, “We need to talk.” Anyway, I’m on a mission to retrain myself—thank goodness I take pictures to document my culinary victories and epic fails! Clearly, I’m a work in progress… the kind that occasionally trips over its own shoelaces.

My goal is not to lose weight, although that would definitely be welcome, but instead to lower my blood sugar, blood pressure and cholesterol by finding a healthier way of eating. A way that works for me and my lifestyle. Some days will be perfect and some days will look like a train wreck, but eventually, I hope there are more good days than bad ones.
